Tip Tap FAQ

  1. What is Tip Tap Giving?
Tip Tap Giving is a convenient, contactless way to donate to the parish. Simply tap your debit or credit card, smartphone, or smartwatch on the Tip Tap device to donate a fixed amount instantly.

  2. Where will the Tip Tap devices be located?
The devices will be placed in the church narthex (lobby) outside the main doors. They will be accessible after each Mass and throughout the day.
  3. How much can I donate per tap?
Each tap donates a preset amount, which is indicated on the device. If you wish to contribute more, you can tap multiple times.

  4. What forms of payment are accepted?
You can use tap-enabled credit cards (Visa, MasterCard), Interac debit cards, and mobile wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. International Visa and MasterCards are also accepted.

  5. Is Tip Tap secure?
Yes! Tip Tap uses the same secure contactless payment technology as major financial institutions. The devices do not store any personal banking information and are designed to shut down if tampered with. Payments are encrypted and processed through a secure financial network.

  6. Can I receive a tax receipt for my Tip Tap donation?
Yes! Please complete the registration form. During the first weekend, volunteers will be present after each Mass to assist you in registering if you would like.
Once registered, all future donations made with the same card will be automatically recorded, and you will receive an end-of-year tax receipt for the total amount. If you donate using multiple cards, please register each card separately to receive tax receipts for all donations.
Please note: tax receipts can only be issued when using a physical payment card, not through smartphone or smartwatch payments.

  7. What donation amount qualifies for a tax receipt?
Only donations of $20 or more per year qualify for a tax receipt. Your donations will be tracked, and once you meet this threshold, you will receive a tax receipt at the end of the year.

  8. What if I forget to register for the tax receipt?
Please aim to register within days after your first tap to take full advantage of your tax receipt opportunity – ask and a volunteer for help.

  9. What if I made a mistake, can I get a refund?
Yes! Please contact the parish office. Provide the last four digits of your card, the type of card used (e.g., Visa, MasterCard, American Express), and the date and time of the transaction.

  10. How will I know if the transaction is approved or declined after I tap?
When the transaction is successful, the device will beep once, followed by a second single beep. If declined, the device will beep once, followed by three consecutive beeps.

  11. Who can I contact for more information?
For further details, please speak with a parish representative or email the parish office at parish@demazenod.org. You can also learn more about Tip Tap at tiptappay.com.
